Displaying a "Tree view" on an Account Page to see which contact is under the authority of the contact above

Hello,

I'm performing a migration from Goldmine 5.5 to MCRM 2011 using Starfish ETL for mapping databases. I have to deal with a major issue. In GM, you are able to display on the left pane of a contact, an "organization tree" showing the hierarchy of a company. It could looks like this:

----------------------------------------------------

■ Name of the organization (Account in MCRM)

            ★Contact1

            ★Contact 2

● Section 1 Name

            ★Contact1

                         ★Contact 2

                                 ● Section Name

                         ★Contact3

★Contact4

■Name of an other organization (Account in MCRM)

----------------------------------------------------

The problem is that users were able to customize it as they wanted. Also, all those sections, contacts, organizations that can be hierarchically organized are always related to a contact regardless of the name you give to a new record (that's the way GM handle it, almost everything in GM database is linked to a contact).

Also, for the title of each line, you can type in the text you want, so nothing is standard, a section name can be a jobtitle, a joke, a deparment, a contact's name... it's a mix of everything.

My first idea was to use my Starfist ETL mapping tool to migrate those tree views to Accounts connections, and because all records are related to contacts, this will give something like a N:N relationship between contacts but I'm already lost on this point because of the conplexity of dependencies.

Any suggestions here, do you think it is possible to do it?

After that, to display the connections under an "user-friendly view", if I am right, I will have to make my own add-in for that... and I have no development skills.

The fact is that anyway, I have to do it, it is a request of a responsible, it as simply to be the same as in GM, and BIG POINT.

I'm really confuse about the Best Way to manage this issue.

What do you think I could do, try? Any reactions, precision needed, comments, advices, ... ?

Thanks!
