Count all records in a subgrid using Javascript

I'm trying to count the number of records in a subgrid "CaseManagerSubGrid". The record count is over 50000 so the suggested methods don't work. I'd like to count the records and put them in a field called "new_TotalRecords". Does anyone know how to achieve this using Javascript?
