We are in the software business and when we sell add-on annual support it can only be recognized over a 12 month period, so each month we must make an entry of 1/12 of the amount. I'm trying to find a way to only have one line item in the products line items for an order rather than 12 so that my year-end product report will be accurate. Currently we have to enter 12 line items for each order which reduces the average of that inventory item. We were doing this in order to have our dashboards show a monthly flow of revenue based on these entries.
Any suggestions?
